In 1586, the English corsair Sir Francis Drake and his band of raiders invaded the city of St. Augustine and burned the city. The 29th authentic reenactment begins on with a battle between the British and Spanish in the historic district at 7 p.m. If you’ve never participated in a reenactment, this is your chance. The Historic Florida Militia usually has loaner clothes available but you must bring your own period-correct shoes or purchase a pair of sandals on site. Leading up to the “battle” is a living history 16th-Century, military-style encampment with drills and demonstrations at Fountain of Youth Park.
